Aspiring female professional surfers can once again look forward to the Maxum ASP Women's Pro Junior, when the elite ASP event kicks off 20 - 21 of September in Cronulla.

The ASP Australasia Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) event made its debut last year and will once again be run concurrently with the NRMA Women's Surf Classic and form a two-day celebration of women in surfing.

The event is currently the only women-only surfing event in Australia.

“The NRMA Women's Surf Classic has gone from strength to strength over the years,” said Surfing NSW Event Manager Luke Madden. “What began as a grassroots boardriders event, managed by the Cronulla Girls Boardriders, has developed into a festival celebrating women in sport. 2013 was massively successful with the implementation of the Maxum ASP Women's Pro Junior and now the 2014 event looks set to mirror the same success.”

Maxum Marketing Manager Michelle Cruz said: "Last year's event was a huge success with the signing of Keely Andrew to the Maxum team and we can't wait to be involved again this year. Maxum was born in the Sutherland Shire and we are focused on supporting our local community and investing into the growth of surfing at a grassroots level."

In addition to the ASP Australasia JQS event, the NRMA Women's Surf Classic will see some of Australia's best female surfers participating in a variety of different surfing disciplines including junior and open longboard, shortboard and stand-up paddleboard.

Already entered the event are 2013 Maxum ASP Women's Pro Junior winner Sarah Mason (NZL) and 2013 runner-up Keely Andrew (Qld/AUS).

The Maxum ASP Women's Pro Junior will have $2000 prize money on offer and vital ASP Pro Junior Series rankings points for surfers vying to qualify for the forthcoming ASP World Junior Championships in Ericeira, Portugal, from October 25 - November 2, 2014.

All photos, results, and highlight clips will be posted on maxumprojunior.com.

2014 is the sixth year the NRMA Women's Surf Classic has run at Cronulla.
