2014 ASP JAPAN TOUR EVENT 5" Minami Boso Junior Pro" will be held today Sept. 13th (SAT) and tomorrow Sept. 14th (SUN) at Mishima Beach (Chitose Point), Minami Boso, Chiba.

The conditions at Chitose Point this morning were clean 3 ft. plus with clear summer like weather.

In quality contestable surf on offer this morning, ASP Japan Tour Manager Tosh Omi called the athletes this morning at 6:30 AM at the first call to get in action for the opening rounds.

Today the event finished the opening 2 rounds of U-20 Junior Men's, U-20 Girls as well as U16 Cadets respectively.

In the U-20 Men's in Round 1 Heat 4 Hiroto Ohhara (JPN) ranked 73rd in the QS ranking makes his first appearance and scores the first excellent score of the event with a 8.00 and moves to the 2nd round. However Ohhara at heat 2 of round 2 did not succeed to overcome Murakami and Wakita and bows out of the event in round 2.

Yuta Tsukamoto scores an excellent 8.50point in the 1st heat of round 2 to take honor for the highest score of the day along with Takumi Yasui for a combined score of 14.50 for the highest heat score for the day to take honors respectively.

First Call tomorrow morning is 6:30AM.

The ASP Japan Junior Tour already finished the 1st event in August at Shida Point in Chiba and this event will be the 2nd event for the 2014 season.

The annual WJC will be held in November in Portugal, and the total points from these 2 events will determine the final qualifiers for the WJC along with the 2 top qualifiers from the top ranked 20 years and under surfers in the top QS ranking who belong to the Japan Branch.

This event will be the final event to determine the qualifiers for the WJC. As the world standards changes, in 2015 the juniors age will be consisted of 20 years and under and in 2016 it will be 18 years and under. The juniors will be more focused to the younger generation. These statements were announced from the ASP Commissioner Office officially.

Grade 1 event "Minami Boso Junior Pro" will be consisted of the U-16 cadets along with the U-20 Pro Juniors.

The junior event will be composed by 2 classes of U-20 Junior Men's and Junior Girls.

6 Men's and 2 Women will be invited to the WJC from ASP Japan Tour. Event venue Chitose Point boasts its high quality surf to decide the invitees.
