2014 ASP JAPAN TOUR EVENT 4"GoPro JUNIOR GAMES" commenced yesterday AUG.2 (SAT) and crowned the champions today AUG. 3 (SUN) at Tsurigasaki Beach (AKA Shida Shita Point), Ichinomiya, Chosei, Chiba.

The conditions at Tsurigasaki Beach this morning were 1 to 2 ft. with clean surfaces and Clear summer weather.

At first call at 7AM, Event organizer called the athletes to get in action for final day all the way to crown the champions today.

In the grand finals for the U-20 Men's, 4 athletes fight for the champion. They are Takumi Nakamura, Louis Gillick (AUS), Hiroto Arai, and Yuta Tsukamoto.

Tsukamoto the only local surfer in the final settles for 4th place and 3rd place goes to Hiroto Arai.

Louis Gillick (AUS) with a 9th in Torquay, Victoria, Australia in January, And then a 5th in Sydney also in January has been following a few QS events along with the Junior Series but has been struggling for a solid result after Sydney. Today Gillick is in the final and scores a 7.75 the highest score of the final backup up by a 5.40 for a combined score of 13.15 points. Takumi Nakamura ranked 137th in the QS ranking scores and 7.50 backed up by a 6.75 for a combined score of 14.25 to overcome Gillick and claims the 2014 champion.

In the U-20 Girls event, Rina Kitazawa and Natsuki Suda move to the re match or 3rd place decider. Kitazawa overcomes Suda by the score of 7.65 to Suda with a 7.25 and Kitazawa takes the 3rd place while Suda settles for 4th place.

Nagisa Tashiro and Amuro Tsuzuki move to the grand finals for the U-20 Girls. Tsuzuki is a rookie and scores a 2.75 and 2.35 for a combined score of 5.10. Tashiro was on fire today and scores a 7.00 backed up by a 6.10 for a combined score of 13.10 to claim the girl's champion.

Nagisa Tashiro took 2014 Girls Champion! 4 young athletes move to the finals for the U-16 Cadets. They are Ren Murakami, Yuki Nakashio, Keijiro Nishi, and Daiki Tanaka.

In 4th is Tanaka and 3rd is Nishi. For the runner up was Nakashio with a combined score of 11.10 points. The winner is Ren Murakami. Murakami wins 2 straight events for 2014 with an all heat wins for the season.

"Thank you very much everybody. I was focusing only to win the event. I am so happy it happened. I tried to focus on the outer breaks. I have never had a solid result at the WJC yet. This year again I will do the best to qualify and focus to get a solid result and qualify for the Prime Series events for the 2015 season. Thank you all once again." Nakamura said after his win.

Next stop on 2014 ASP Japan Calendar is "Minami Boso Junior Pro "consisting of the Junior Men's、Junior Girl's、Cadet (U16) classes to be held at Chitose, Minami Boso, Chiba on September 13th and 14th.

The annual WJC will be held in November, and these 2 events will determine the qualifiers for the WJC along with the qualifiers from the top ranked 20 years and under surfers in the top QS ranking who belong to the Japan Branch.

As the world standards changes, in 2015 the juniors age will be consisted of 19 years and under and in 2016 it will be 18 years and under. The juniors will be more focused to the younger generation. These statements were announced from the ASP Commissioner Office officially.

The event will be composed by 2 classes of, U-20 Junior Men's and Junior Girls.

5 Men's (maximum 6) and 2 Women (maximum 3) will be invited to the WJC from ASP Japan Tour.
