Jack Freestone lifts above the lip during the O'Neill SP Prime.
Jack Freestone (AUS) has joined the Futures team. The 22-year-old used the Futures system and fins during 2014 and it proved to be a match made in heaven: Freestone had his most impressive Qualifying Series (QS) finish last year, narrowly missing the Championship Tour (CT) cutoff at No. 19.
"I love the Futures system, it's strong and you can really feel the connection of the fins to the board," he said in Futures' official release. "In all conditions, having that positive drive-y feeling is key to gaining speed, which is critical. I'm looking forward to working with the designers to develop some new options to really suit my needs. I'm so psyched to be part of the team."
With two Junior Tour championship wins and Quarterfinal finished in two QS10000-rated events (formerly Prime events on the Qualifying Series) last season, Freestone's career is getting hotter by the year.
So far this year, he has already appeared in filmmaker Kai Neville's latest release, Cluster. His segment in the film is chock full of the high-flying, high-risk surfing that has become his trademark. It's the highest-profile segment that Freestone has released to date.
