"It is the most exciting time in the history of the sport right now," Paul Speaker, WSL CEO, said. "The performances of the world's best surfers, the dynamic venues around the globe and the unparalleled adventure, athleticism and competitive drama of professional surfing has surged in the past 24 months. Being able to partner with Globosat, exposing such a large audience to professional surfing, represents a major step for both our sport and our company and is further illustrative of the tremendous momentum the WSL is experiencing."

"The country of Brazil is on an incredible run, first with the rise of the 'Brazilian Storm' and recently with Gabriel Medina's maiden World Title clinching," Speaker continued. "The success is a testament to the country's belief in surfing as a legitimate and dynamic sport as well as the support of their athletes."
The Brazilian rally around its Championship Tour (CT) representatives continues to grow with each stellar performance. So far this year, the eight-strong Brazilian contingency has totaled 13 rides in the nine-point range. Filipe Toledo (BRA) won the season's first event, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, and is already into the Quarterfinals of Stop No. 2, the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach. On the women's Tour, Silvana Lima (BRA), back on the CT after falling off at the end of 2013 due to injury, has tallied two perfect 10-point rides, one at each stop.
Silvana Lima tears about Bells Beach for the second 10-pointer of the season.
"We have a long relationship with the surf universe and is such an honor for us to continue with WSL, bringing the very best in the world of surfing," said Globosat Sports CEL Pedro Garcia.
