By now the world knows that Mick Fanning (AUS) encountered a shark during the Final at the last men's Championship Tour event, the J-Bay Open. But this week, his new fans learned that he's as capable in heavy water as he is fending off big fish. -- @mfanno: Tahiti is a magical place. I remember this wave I was sitting next to Andy Irons and he told me to go. I took off thinking I was going straight into a close out but luckily made it. A memorable wave in more ways than one. 📷@tomservaisjr #AIforever

Keanu Asing (HAW) is a rookie on the 2015 Championship Tour, but you wouldn't know it based on his skills in the tube. He's already getting acquainted with Teahupo'o ahead of the upcoming Billabong Pro Tahiti, and he's looking anything but inexperienced. -- @keanuasing: Sneaky one. Photo: Pat Stacy#Tahiti

Before Miguel Pupo (BRA) headed to one of the Championship Tour's most remote stops, he decided to hit the polar opposite...one of the world's largest cities. -- @miguelpuposurf: Atã a próxima NY, partiu Tahiti ✌ï¸// Till next time NYC, off to Tahiti ✌ï¸#GoodTimes 🇺🇸

Owen Wright (AUS) made history at the 2015 Fiji Pro, scoring two perfect heats and winning the event. The event in Fiji was the first left barreling reefbreak on the CT schedule, and Tahiti is the second. Wright has already made two trips to Tahiti between events this year. (Hint: He might be a good Fantasy Surfing pick.) -- @owright: Teahupo is next @wsl pretty excited about it! @ripcurl_aus@monsterenergy @dragonalliance@houseofmarley @jsindustries1@ocean_earth 📷 @kirvan_b

Adrian Buchan (AUS) just earned his best result of the season, with a third-place finish at the J-Bay Open. Last year, he lit up the Billabong Pro Tahiti after landing there with less momentum than he has now and left with a Quarterfinal finish. Look for him to do well at a place he considers a home away from home. -- @acebuchan: Friday night. Unpacking some beauties from @jsindustries1 for Tahiti I picked up today. Triple J and a sneaky little creatures pale😋 Ashes and Bunnies to follow😜

Like Buchan Wiggolly Dantas (BRA) picked up a new quiver for the upcoming event at Teahupo'o. At the start of the season Dantas claimed he enjoyed the big barrels most on the CT schedule. He backed that up by earning a Quarterfinal finish in Fiji. With this many surfboards to choose from, there has to be at least one magic board. -- @wiggolly: New babies waiting for Tahiti 😱😎👊🻠minhas baby estão prontas para o Tahiti @quiksilver @stretchboards@komunityproject @circuitequipment@bananawaxaustralia @dahui8o8@treehuts @minikalzone #WD6#gowiggolly @wellingtonsurf9

Jeremy Flores (FRA) suffered a serious freesurf injury and was forced to miss the event in South Africa. He missed the event in Tahiti last year due to a league suspension, but the four times he competed prior to 2014 Flores made it to Round 4 or better. His ability to compete in this year's contest is still up in the air, but he's giving it everything he's got. -- @floresjeremy: Heading to Tahiti to try it out, i will be deciding there if i will surf in The event or not, depending on The swells i guess, wearing a helmet.... Hopefully it won't get too big cause i don't know how my brain will react 😬...Stokedddddd to go back to one of my favorite place in The world tho !!!! ----------------------- Je trace a Tahiti, je vais essayer de surfer sur place et dãciderai à ce moment là de ma participation à la compãtition. Je sais pas trop comment mon cerveau va rãagir si les vagues sont grosses donc rest

Here, the World No. 3 offers a little admiration of his own for Matahi Drollet (PYF) ahead of the Billabong Pro Tahiti. -- @julian_wilson: How could you not be excited! @matahidrollet sleep surfing at his home break. #Tahitionmymind
