The fourth event of the World Surf League (WSL) sanctioned Subway® Surf Series is set to splash down on Perth's metropolitan beaches this weekend, with Trigg Point to play host to some of the country's best young junior surfers.

After events in VIC and NSW, a small but impressive field of elite Australian and international competitors will converge on Perth's premiere wave location for what is shaping up to be two-days of high-performance action.

Surfers from six different nations including Indonesia, New Zealand, Barbados, France, Canary Islands as well as all around Australia, will line-up in the prestigious event.

Headlining the Australian talent, will be current JQS ratings leaders Mikey McDonagh (NSW) and Zahli Kelly (QLD). The pair will be out to make the most out of a trip across the Nullarbor to Western Australia.

India Robinson (VIC), Reef Heazlewood (QLD), Sandon Whittaker (NSW), Kehu Butler (NZL) and Tiana Izquierdo (IND) will be other top seeds to keep an eye on when competition commences at Trigg Point on Saturday.

Yallingup trio Kael Walsh, Duke Nagtzaam, and Josh Cattlin will also be out to make a big impression and fly the flag for WA this weekend. While Moses Le Grice (East Fremantle), Alex McGuffin (Bicton) and Fletcher Llanwarne (Sorrento) will be leading the charge for the local metropolitan surfers on their home break.

"It's a great opportunity for our young WA surfers to mix it up with some of the best talent in the country," said Surfing WA Events Manager Justin Majeks. "It's great that our state can host a WSL Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) event and I look forward to seeing strong local representation."

A building ground swell and favourable conditions are forecast for Perth this weekend with competition set to kick off from 8am on Saturday, with finals concluding on Sunday.
