Ferreira just competed in the first CT event of the 2017 season, the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, where he finished in the Quarterfinals. In 2016, he finished No. 15 in the world and in 2015, his first year on tour, he earned the WSL's prestigious Rookie of the Year award. Currently, he sits at equal fifth. It is not clear yet whether he will be able to compete in the next event on tour, the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro, in Western Australia, whose waiting period opens March 29. He is currently slated to compete against Julian Wilson and Ethan Ewing in Round One.
At last year's WA event, he finished in third place, and again in third for the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.
