To Fans of Professional Surfing:
On March 1st of this year, the world's best male and female surfers will grab competition singlets for the first time this season and for this first time under the revamped Association of Surfing Professionals.
Throughout 2013, we engaged in a number of initiatives to better learn how to produce the best possible surfing events this season. These initiatives included fan research, a comprehensive look into production aspects, liaising with our world-class athletes, working with commentary teams as well as top-of-class sponsor and media partners.
My background is in sports and entertainment and what that boils down to is creating fan experiences by telling stories and delivering the drama of competition. That's what I love to do and I feel, and I know that everyone on our team feels, honored to have the opportunity we have this season. What the men and women of the ASP World Championship Tour do year in and year out is nothing short of remarkable. What we'll be committed to this season is showcasing our athletes, events, tours and the sport in ways that engage, educate and entertain. We are truly excited about this prospect.
Our teams across the Events, Marketing, Content, Sponsorship, Commissioner, Finance and Executive departments have been working tirelessly for this moment and our foundational media partners in Google YouTube, Facebook/Instragram are all passionate about professional surfing and delivering the best possible experience for you, the fan.
In three weeks' time, the ASP Top 34 and 17 will enter the water at Snapper Rocks and it is my wish, and the wish of the whole ASP family, that the sporting experience for our surfers, our fans, media partners and sponsors is world-class and one that we are all proud to be a part of.
Thank you for your continued passion and support and we look forward to an excellent 2014.
