De la mano de Roundhouse y Play Patagonia, la World Surf League llega a Mar del Plata en Semana Santa con el RIP CURL PRO ARGENTINA WSL 2017; este tradicional evento QS 1500 Men que por primera vez tendrá la categoría damas con una fecha QS 1000 se disputará en olas Biología o el Yacht, según las condiciones, en Playa Grande - Mar del Plata del 10 al 16 de abril. Con USD 30.000 en premios en ambas categorías, el evento recibirá a los más bravos guerreros del continente americano.
Desde sus comienzos, la galería de campeones del Rip Curl Pro Argentina ha tenido hegemonía brasileña, en la última edición Leandro Usuna, integrante del team Rip Curl, estuvo muy cerca y se convirtió en el primer argentino en llegar a la final.
Al revisar la historia de esta fecha del calendario WSL en Argentina, es imposible no destacar la presencia de competidores que hoy son parte de la elite del WCT o que han tenido participaciones en el tour: Ítalo Ferreyra (Brasil), Ian Gouveia (Brasil), Alex Ribeiro (Brasil) y Lucas Silveira (Brasil) y Jacob Wilcox (Australia), son algunos de los nombres que han sido parte de la historia.
En el marco del RIP CURL PRO ARGENTINA 2017 se disputará la fecha nacional del circuito fiscalizado por la Asociación de Surf Argentina (ASA), además de una serie de eventos que irán teniendo lugar con el correr de la semana. Clínicas de Surf, JEEP Expression Session, Corona Sunset After Surf, Surfboards Gallery Art, Music/ DJS/ Reggae, limpieza de playa con las máquinas Barber y Skate Contest, son algunas de las actividades que conforman el cronograma que acompañarán la competencia.
Leandro Usuna, actual campeón de la WSL Sudamérica, será una de las fuertes apuestas de los argentinos, ubicado en el puesto 59 del ranking QS de la World Surf League, Lele es un gran conocedor de la ola y está un gran momento de maduración competitiva.
El Rip Curl Pro Argentina será el primer evento QS de la World Surf League del 2017 en territorio sudamericano, el más AUSTRAL DEL GLOBO y este año son escasas las fechas programadas para Sudamérica, por lo tanto Argentina figura como una de las prioridades para los surfistas de la región.
Damas y caballeros, el mejor surfing del mundo vuelve a Mar del Plata con el Rip Curl Pro Argentina WSL 2017… Nos vemos en Biología el podio principal durante Semana Santa.
