The Neutrox Weekend Women's QS Event in 2017 was such a success that event organizers opted to return to 2018 with a double-dose of action. Later this month, the Neutrox Weekend Women's QS 1,000 will take place in Itacaré, Bahia on July 21-22. Then in September, the Neutrox Weekend Women's QS 1,000 will be held at Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro on September 28-30. In addition, 1,000 regional ranking points will also be distributed at each event in the race for the 2018 WSL South America Title.

"It's very gratifying to see the increase in Women's Events on the schedule in Brazil, as well as having partners such as Neutrox and ABRASP involved in this project to further develop women's surfing in our country," said Roberto Perdigão, Regional Director for WSL South America.
For the first time in history, the WSL event will distribute points for a national circuit as well.
"The talent level of the athletes is at an all-time high, so it's important to create more opportunities for our regional athletes to move up on the QS Rankings and make their way onto the Championship Tour. In an unprecedented collaboration here in Brazil, the results of the athletes at the Neutrox Weekend will be valid towards the WSL 2018 Qualifying Series rankings as well as the ABRASP (Brazilian National Surfing Circuit) rankings. The real winners from this partnership will be the surfers," concluded Perdigão.
Silvana Lima - WSL / Pedro Monteiro
Hailing from the Northeastern Region of Brazil, the current Champion Tour surfer Silvana Lima will be the largest attraction at the Neutrox Weekend events. The always-feisty Lima earned a runner-up finish behind Camila Cassia (BRA) at the inaugural event in 2017 at Barra da Tijuca and is looking forward to competing at the QS 1,000 at Praia da Tiririca in Itacaré later on this month.
However, due to a knee injury she suffered at the CT event in J-Bay in South Africa, her participation in Bahia is still questionable. Her presence however is guaranteed, since she is sponsored by Neutrox.
Another Neutrox sponsored athlete that will be surfing at the events is the WSL 2017 Longboard Tour Runner-Up, Chloé Calmon (BRA). The stylish longboarder will be participating in the Brazilian Professional Longboard Championship which will also take place during the Neutrox Weekend events.
Anali Gomez - WSL / Pedro Monteiro
The race for the 2018 WSL South America Women's Champion has been heating up after the first three events. Dominic Barona (ECU) has been lighting it up this year with two victories (Peru and Argentina) and a second-place result (Chile). Barona sits comfortably in the lead with 2,750 regional ranking points, but with several events still ahead on the calendar, it's still anybody's game.
3-time WSL South America Champion Anali Gomez (PER) sits in 2nd place on the continental ranking, followed by Lucia Indurain (ARG), Camila Cassia (BRA) and former CT Champion, Sofia Mulanovich (PER) closely behind. The Champion from each WSL Region will be awarded with automatic entries into all Women's QS 10,000 and QS 6,000 rated events in 2019.
Tainá Hinckel - WSL / Pedro Monteiro
The Neutrox brand has been promoting healthy lifestyles and physical activities, focusing specifically on women's surfing and skateboarding. The brand believes that sponsoring surfing events provides the sport and the athletes with greater visibility and as a consequence, offers the surfers a better chance of earning sponsorship to pursue their dreams as professional athletes.
José Vicente Marino, President of Flora (owners of the Neutrox brand) said, "Neutrox has been on the market for over 40 years and is proud to sponsor an event that shows female athletes participating in an extremely healthy sport. There will be plenty of action in and out of the water with a number of events open to the public during the Neutrox Weekend Events."
