LIVE Music - Sunday 12th May 2019
Join us for an entertaining afternoon from approx 4pm. On the Hill, Burleigh Heads.
Donny Love Donny Love are nocturnal icons of the sunshine state and natural outsiders. They've spent several years now brooding and maturing, diligently studying their craft and carving out their own oddball sound which incorporates carnal elements of rock, jazz, new wave, pop and soul among other things. They appear now and then to perform and release, and their live show has gained notoriety for its high energy and sensational qualities. Already to their name they have several singles, an EP, national tours, notable performances including Gizzfest 2017, and have shared stages with the Allah Lahs, Thee Oh Sees, Homeshake, The Growlers, Chastity Belt, Rolling Blackouts CF and The Creases.
Tones and I Tones And I is selling out venues full of fans singing every word of her unreleased music. Originally from the Mornington Peninsula, Tones took a trip to Byron Bay in early 2018 and took a chance at busking. On the first day she had crowds spilling onto the street - so she quit her retail job and decided to make Byron Bay her new home. Since then, Tones And I has been selling out shows nationally, the most recent at Bondi's Beach Road Hotel with a record crowd and line around the block. Tones And I debut single, ‘Johnny Run Away' was recorded with Konstantin Kersting (Mallrat, The Jungle Giants, Tia Gostelow, The Belligerents) and highlights the singers strong and unique vocals.
The Vanns Following 2017's EP, Shake The Hand That Picks The Fight, The Wollongong NSW indie-rock quartet are thrilled to announce their brand new single, ‘How Was I Supposed To Know', as well as a string of shows in support of the release. Produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Ali Barter, Alex Lahey), ‘How Was I Supposed To Know' is the band's strongest and most commanding track yet, which according to singer/guitarist Jimmy Vann deals with "The collapse of a relationship and the frustration, confusion and envy that comes along with seeing the one you love moving on easily in every way, whilst you're still caught up in what was." The band will be supported nationally by Wing Defence and the tour kicks off at Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong, followed by a headline run down the eastern seaboard from Brisbane through to Adelaide.
The Gold Coast Open QS1,500 will run from May 8 - 12 and will be broadcast LIVE at worldsurfleague.com.
