Highlights: Near-perfect scores and epic waves on Day 2 of Deeply Pro Anglet
3:12
The 2019 Deeply Pro Anglet continued with men and women's action to decide the event's quarterfinalists in excellent waves again and the Red Bull Airborne Qualifier crowns Nomme Mignot with an insane flip.

The QS1,500 Deeply Pro Anglet continued to be blessed with awesome conditions for a second action-packed day where both the men and women divisions competed for a spot into the Quarterfinals.

As surfers gradually warm up and get a good read on the ever-changing peaks of la Chambre d'Amour, scores continue to reach new heights heat after heat and today was no different.

The 9-point club welcomed 3 new members on Tuesday with plenty other guests knocking on the door with 8.8+ scores flirting with the golden ticket.

Nomme Mignot was the first surfer to sign in this morning with an incredible full rotation on a foamy inside wave and a big final section. The score came in as a 9.93, almost instantly upgrading his membership to the 10 point club.

"I really wanted to go for an air in that heat," he said. "That wave didn't look like anything special when I started on it and I just wanted to warm up but it ended up offering such a rad section and I went for it. It was rad to see my little brother do so well last week and it definitely motivated me."

Andy Criere stuck to what he knows best and went mad on the carves on a beautiful big open wall for a 9.83 in Round 5. The former runner-up in Anglet had a close call in the previous round and visibly wanted to give judges some thinking to do with next-level surfing in his next opportunity.

"I got my two scores on early waves with good but safe surfing," he said. "That wave came and I knew it was better than all the others so I just pushed all my turns harder. It gave me even more speed and flow to combine those turns and that ended up being the best score I've ever gotten on the QS so I'm stoked."

The 9-point club obviously welcomes members of all genders and Anat Lelior rightfully got her season ticket with world-class rail game on a big left as well to claim a 9.17 in Round 1. She then proceeded to subscribe to a lifetime pass with a 9.03 in Round 2 before advancing past a really big heat in Round 3 to make her way into the Quarters.

"I noticed how the two big-maneuver waves were rewarded and that's what I set out to do," she said. "My backhand is usually stronger so I'm happy I got to score on the forehand this time. I hope the waves keep showing up for this event it's been so much fun this far."

Mignot, Criere and Lelior joined Eduardo Fernandes who entered the coveted club on Day 1 yesterday. Isabella Nichols, Ariane Ochoa, Gabriela Bryan, Gatien Delahaye will need to slightly up their game to gain the valuable tenths of a point they missed today to be inducted in the club.

The day wrapped with the Final of the Red Bull Airborne Qualifier and Nomme Mignot got a chance to redeem himself, throwing caution to the wind with insane aerial maneuvers. The Frenchman landed a couple of incredible, inverted flips and his best attempt scored a 9.50 to claim the top spot and win the coveted golden-ticket for the Red Bull Airborne France. Mignot will be invited to surf along the best aerialists in the world during the Quiksilver Pro France waiting period in October.

"All the guys surfing in the Red Bull Airborne events have been inspirations of mine forever," he added. "But for me my biggest inspiration was Clay Marzo. The way he surfs and how he's always doing unexpected turns and airs, I don't know I‘ve just always loved it. I'm going to need to go big and I can't wait for the opportunity."

Earlier today Surfrider Foundation Europe got active on land, with 3-time World Champion Tom Curren and 2-time World Champion Tom Carroll lending a hand to clean up the beach in Anglet. The initiative was mainly to educate beachgoers about pollution and alternative solutions that exist to diminish or eliminate dangerous waste from public consumption. At the same time it helped support the fantastic work the local community and city council are already doing, by picking up micro-plastics that keep coming with the tides.
