The Junior Pro La Torche anchors itself as a regular stop on the European Junior Qualifying Series, coming back for a third edition from June 9-13, 2021!
What?
The first stop on the 2021 European Junior Qualifying Series, the event will once again host the future of European surfing at the iconic point of La Torche. A spot that can serve up a variety of conditions, successful competitors in La Torche must show an ability to adapt to anything thrown at them.
Mafalda Lopes and Tiago Carrique won the 2019 edition and went on to finish in first and second position respectively on the continent's season rankings, grabbing a precious ticket for the World Junior Championship in the process.
The E.Leclerc Pont L'Abbé Junior Pro La Torche culminates with the victories of Tiago Carrique and Mafalda Lopes on Finals Sunday.
Both surfers being now over 18 years old, this opens up the door to a large crop of younger, up-and-coming stars to swoop in and lead their generation.
Where?
After the previous two editions, surfers now know that the La Torche point, situated at the bottom of the Audierne bay is a cruel mistress with a temper. Conditions can be idyllic or straight up victory at sea-like, but the set up with waves on either sides of the point favors shelter from most dominant winds on the right day.
