Next time we see World Champ Italo Ferreira atop the podium he'll be rocking a Red Bull lid on his dreadlocked dome. Announced via his Instragram account today, Ferreira and Red Bull have joined forces.
"Very happy to announce that I am now part of the @redbullbr, @redbull_surfing and @redbull family. An honor to be part of a team that I admire a lot, with athletes that I respect and that are part of my trajectory in the sport," wrote Ferreira on Instagram.
"Another achievement in my life, a great fuel to keep dreaming and trying to reach my goals," he continued.
Ferreira will join one of the most dynamic surf teams in the sport. From World Champ Carissa Moore, to big-wave heroes such as Kai Lennyand Ian Walsh, as well as Pipe Master Jamie O'Brien, he will be in good company as he continues to push surfing ever forward.
Currently sitting in third on the Championship Tour leaderboard, Ferreira began his World Title defense last December with a semifinal result at the Billabong Pipe Masters presented by Hydro Flask.
In 2019, he clinched his first Title in heroic fashion, winning surfing's ultimate prize in the last heat of the last event of the season at pumping Pipeline. Beating Brazilian rival Gabriel Medina in the Final, the moment was part of the inspiration behind the newly launched Rip Curl WSL Finals this September.
Sporting a new hair style and a new partnership with Red Bull, Ferreira appears ready to take flight when the Australian leg of the CT kicks off next month.
