Underscoring the excellent reputation of this event and the quality of surf it typically enjoys, Kelly Slater (USA), John John Florence (HAW) and Dusty Payne (HAW) will head the 112-man international field from more than a dozen countries.
The one remaining wildcard spot in the event will be decided by the very special and exciting Volcom Last Chance Qualifier heat. The third annual VLCQ will be a 40-minute, 8-man heat in which veteran pipe warriors Bruce Irons, Gavin Beschen, Alex Gray, Kawai Lindo, JD Irons, Kaimana Henry, Derek Ho and Makuakai Rothman will all be contending in a best-wave, winner-take-all battle for a seed into the Round of 64.
