Thanks a lot to @rossbutson and @yokobutson for looking after me in Japan, had a great time experiencing all the exotic things Japan had to offer. Its tough losing by 0.03 in the round of 144 but feeling confident for the next upcoming contests, the J Bay Super Trial and Ballito Pro. You live and you learn and come away stronger regardless of the result. One things for sure, my chop sticks skills have definitely improved

Thanks to everyone for the support yesterday at the Cape Town Pro! Was very happy to make the finals and felt that luck was not on my side in the final placing second, but what I did not realize is that luck was more on my side than ever yesterday. On our way home last night, we got side swiped by a driver speeding down the M14 along beach boulevard in Blouberg. His vehicle landed up 178 meters away from us on his roof. When we got out the car we did not know what hit us as his car was so far away. The driver hit more of the engine of our vehicle and thankfully not the passengers or the drivers side, we all came out unscathed and thankful to be alive! @grantbeck1 @gary_lightfoot Gareth Lee

After being home for only a week from Australia I decided to make a very spontaneous trip to Argentina for a QS 1500, the trip paid off with a 5th place finish in very tricky onshore conditions. Stoked with the experience and will be looking forward to keeping the momentum going into the QS 3000 in Martinique! | Photo taken by @kfuss

Along one of my layovers on my round the world ticket, I had the amazing opportunity to stop in at Colorado for 4 days and meet up with a couple mates who were working at Keystone resort for the ski season. After a 14 hour flight and a 2 hour drive, still trying to comprehend seeing snow for the first time, I was up on a beginner slope learning the ropes of snowboarding at 9pm at night on my first hour of arrival. What followed in days to come was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had! Tracking down the most snowfall in a particular region and waking up at the crack of dawn to make the first lines through the powdered slopes. It felt like you were carving on a 15 foot wave with endless amounts of speed. Would just like to thank the boys responsible for hooking me up with such an amazing 21st Birthday present. @officialwillco95 @ryatho4

Swell is still maxing out, the average waves being around 15 foot at the contest break, so we took a trip to Peniche to find another little harbor wall sheltering the swell a bit. Usually on tour you hoping for the swell to be bigger then 2 foot, very seldom are you hoping for the swell to drop to a more controllable size

The swell has been maxing out here in Portugal, thanks to this harbor wall for giving us some controllable surf. PS. Have a great new years peeps

This guy just broke the world record for the longest surf! A solid 30 hours and 431 waves caught. When I asked him if he was ready for his grueling surf session, he replied with: "It does not matter how I do, its all just to raise awareness for the charity drive" Huge respect brother ! @joshenslingypsy

My last wave in yesterdays Pro Junior Final, needing a 6.2 and getting a 6.25 in the last 10 seconds of the heat. It really emphasized the fact to never give up! Super stoked to have won the Billabong Junior at Seal Point and to become the WSL Africa Pro Junior Champion! Looking forward to representing South Africa at the WSL World Junior Champs next year
