THE HISTORY: A regular stop on the European Junior series for several years, Sopela is a favorite amongst aspiring professional surfers. The event has witnessed a constant progression of the European surfing level and provides a great entertainment to the summer crowds.
THE WAVE: A punchy A-frame type beachbreak, playa de Sopela delivers excellent waves in the 2-4Ft range regularly with the occasional bigger swells that can produce classic conditions. Barrels, carves and air sections make for a complete canvas for Europe's best to push their performance levels every year.
