During the Fiji Women's Pro, Gilmore checked in with the WSL broadcast via video chat to provide an update on her injury.

Gilmore stated during the Fiji Women's Pro that she expected to be back in the water within a matter of weeks, but her withdrawal from the US Open suggests she still has some recovery ahead of her before returning to competition.

The reigning Champ is currently ranked No. 8 on the Jeep Leaderboard and will count another injury result for the US Open, an event at which she finished runner-up in 2014.

Andrew has already joined the elite in both Rio and Fiji. The remaining wildcard seed for the US Open will be awarded to the highest ranked surfer in the North American region following the Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro QS 6,000.
