Jack Robinson has been chosen as one of two wildcards for the upcoming Drug Aware Margaret River Pro. The 18-year-old competitor has been dominant in big Hawaiian waves and could be a huge spoiler in the event at his home break.

"I feel very privileged to be chosen," Robinson said. "I can't wait for the show to begin and I'm looking forward to competing on home turf."

Robinson's Big Game

Jack Robinson's technical tube-riding saw him top a field of Pipe specialists to win last year's Pipe Invitational. One can only guess how he'll fare in familiar waters.

Robinson has been competing in WSL Junior and Qualifying Series events for several years, but really started to turn heads with his performances at heavy-wave venues like Teahupo'o and Pipeline. In December, he competed alongside the Championship Tour's Top 34 after winning the Pipe Invitational, in which he took down a field of competitors that had home-break advantage.

Depending on the results of the local trials, Robinson will take on Gabriel Medina and rookie Davey Cathels or Adriano de Souza and Keanu Asing in Round 1. Either way he'll be facing a World Champ, but his no-holds-barred approach and local knowledge may give him an edge.
