The 2015 Rookie of the Year has roots in Brazil thanks to her mother who was a local bodysurfer. She visits regularly and even has a reality TV show with her boyfriend, QS surfer and Sao Paulo native Jesse Mendes.

In an interview prior to the contest, Weston-Webb told WSL, "I had a lot of fans there and was shocked. But I want to support them as much as they support me, so now I'm engaging with them more and in that case, I think my fan base there has grown."
