The World Surf League is pleased to announce confirmation of the Women's QS 1,500 Neutrox Weekend from October 20 - 22 at Barra da Tijuca. This is the first Women's Qualifying Series event held in Rio de Janeiro since 2009. In addition to the QS competition, the event weekend will also host multiple Women's Brazilian national categories including Pro Junior, Longboard and SUP contests.
The Neutrox Weekend is the 36th event on the WSL Qualifying Series calendar. Besides the 1,500 points on offer to the event winner, an additional 1,000 points will be appointed towards the WSL South America Regional rankings. Only the top six ranked surfers will be part of the 2018 World Surf League Championship Tour.

Scheduled to compete are the likes of Silvana Lima (BRA), who is coming in hot after her exciting victory at the Swatch Pro in Trestles, WSL South America Champions Nathalie Martins (BRA) and Jacqueline Silva (BRA), the powerful surfers Anali Gomez (PER) and Dominic Barona (ECU) as well as current Women's Longboard Tour rankings leader Chloe Calmon (BRA) and SUP World Champion Nicole Pacelli (BRA).
The contest site will provide a number of free activities to the public including yoga classes, slacklines, surf clinics with former four-time Brazilian national champion Andrea Lopes, skateboard demos, Crossfit classes as well as hair treatments provided by the Neutrox Activation Tent.
"Neutrox has been on the market for over 40 years, but in 2017 the company released a revamped model, perspective and packaging. To emphasize this point, we've focused on the admiration and values of women in sports. We've invested in women's surfing which is in dire need of financial support, especially since surfing will be implemented in the 2020 Olympics," said José Vicente Marino, President of Flora, which holds the rights to Neutrox.

A total of USD $15,000 in prize money will be on offer for the Women's QS 1,500 Neutrox Weekend, while $5,000 will be distributed in each of the other events to take place at Barra da Tijuca.
