The surfing World Championship Tour will kick off in Queensland once again, attracting the world's best surfers to Queensland's famous beaches.
Major events like this are a big drawcard for visitors and showcase Queensland to a global audience, promoting the relaxed Gold Coast lifestyle and this iconic destination.
Attendance numbers continue to grow every year, with visitors attending from interstate as well as overseas, which will boost the local economy, support jobs and foster community pride.
With the Gold Coast also hosting the 2018 World Surf League Awards, Queensland is set for a big few weeks of surfing action.
Congratulations to the event organizers and all those involved in delivering these great events.
I encourage those visiting the Gold Coast to not only see our famous beaches and surf but to experience the region from hinterland to the world-class food and wine on offer.
The Hon. Kate Jones, MP Minister for Tourism Industry Development
