HEAT 1

Italo Ferreira (BRA)
Jadson Andre (BRA)

Italo - needs to win to keep his WT and Olympic Qualifications alive, as per WT & Olympic Scenarios
Jadson - Already qualified via the QS but with a win at Pipe can affect the QS Rankings and provide QS access to Morgan Cibilic & Stu Kennedy (if Deivid Silva also keeps his CT Status)

HEAT 2

Peterson Crisanto (BRA)
Conner Coffin (USA)

Peterson - Current #22, needs a win to keep his Top 22 finish secure as surfers behind him (Yago Dora, for example) can overtaking him on the CT Rankings
Conner - Reasonably safe w/ his 23345 pts

HEAT 3

Owen Wright (AUS)
Yago Dora (BRA)

Owen - Needs a win to keep his Olympic aspirations alive
Yago - Already qualified via the QS but can "shake" both CT & QS Rankings w/ a 9th or better at Pipe

HEAT 4

Julian Wilson (AUS)
Willian Cardoso (BRA)

Julian - Needs to advance to keep his Olympic aspirations alive
Willian - Currently 23rd (and no QS Top 10), needs at least a 9th at Pipe to have any chances of requalifying (and will depend on others' results). If he loses he will be out of the CT in 2020

HEAT 5

Filipe Toledo (BRA)
Ricardo Christie (NZL)

Filipe - Needs to advance to keep both WT & Olympic hopes alive
Ricardo - He is already out of the CT next year

HEAT 6

Ryan Callinan (AUS)
Jack Freestone (AUS)

Ryan - Like Julian, needs to advance (and hope for a win at Pipe) to represent Australia in the Olympics
Jack - Safe on the CT; Small chance for the Olympics as he depends on other's final results as well

HEAT 7

Seth Moniz (HAW)
Billy Kemper (HAW)

Seth - An Olympic chance if he wins AND John John Florence finishes 17th or below AND Kelly Slater finishes 3rd or below

HEAT 8

Kelly Slater (USA)
Joan Duru (FRA)

Kelly - Olympic chances pending on John's & Seth's results
Joan - Has an Olympic chance if Wins AND Michel Bourez finishes 17th or below

HEAT 9

Gabriel Medina (BRA)
Imaikalani Devault (HAW)

Gabriel - Needs to advance to keep WT & Olympic Dreams alive

HEAT 10

Wade Carmichael (AUS)
Caio Ibelli (BRA)

Wade - Very small Olympic chance

HEAT 11

John John Florence (HAW)

John - Needs to advance to keep his advantage over Kelly & Seth towards Olympic birth
Zeke - Needs at least a 5th to start having hopes to requalify to the 2020 CT

Soli - Only a win at Pipe can keep his CT status for 2020

HEAT 13

Jordy Smith (ZAF)
Jesse Mendes (BRA)

Jordy - Needs to advance to keep his WT hopes alive
Jesse - Must advance towards a 5th or better to keep his CT position for 2020

HEAT 14

Adrian Buchan (AUS)
Griffin Colapinto (USA)

Adrian - Must advance to keep his Olympic contention
Griffin - Sitting at 20th w/ 22695 is not exactly comfortable. A win would help

HEAT 15

Michel Bourez (FRA)
Deivid Silva (BRA)

Michel - Needs to advance this Round to guarantee his Olympic position for France
Deivid - Already in via both Rankings but, if he keeps his CT Status Morgan Cibilic will be on the CT next year

HEAT 16

Kolohe Andino (USA)
Sebastian Zietz (HAW)

Kolohe - WT contender and only a win matters
Sebastian - Currently 27th, needs at least a 5th at Pipe to have any hopes for next season's CT
