It was just last month that Caroline Marks posted that epic clip of her charging Chopes. And now she just dropped another heater of an edit, this time at home in San Clemente aboard some fresh new boards from legendary shaper Matt Biolos. And she's looking particularly dangerous during this extended offseason, smashing the lefts and rights at Lowers with authority.
If this is any indication of how she'll be surfing whenever the season gets underway, Marks already looks like a strong contender for the World Title.
On the subject of World Champions, Biolos has a knack for making boards for the world's best surfers. He's crafted equipment for four-time World Champ Carissa Moore and two-time World Champ Tyler Wright. Not to mention his long list of legends and icons, current CT stars and super groms. You can even catch our boy Strider repping Mayhem.
As for what makes Marks such a strong possible contender -- she was the youngest surfer to ever qualify for the women's Championship Tour when she made the roster in 2018 at 16-years-old. She earned Rookie of the Year honors as a result of her performance. Today she's often referred to as "the best backhand surfer on the women's Tour."
Caroline Marks makes history as one of the 18 athletes the WSL CT will provisionally qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
In 2019, she nearly won the World Title after taking out two CT stops. As a result of her results she earned herself a spot on the 2020 USA Olympic Surf team.
And now, with Carissa Moore announcing her break from the Tour, Marks will be entering Stop No. 1 in the Yellow Jersey. It's hard to believe she just celebrated her 18th birthday in Februray.
At the moment, with the recent postponement of the 2020 CT season, Marks appears to be taking advantage of the extra training days at home. A lot of unknowns remain at the moment, but what we do know is that Marks will come out the gates ready as ever and riding some seriously dialed in equipment.
