Jordy, a film by Morgan Maassen, follows the South African surfer on his 2019 Championship Tour journey, starting at Jefferys Bay and culminating to the Title Race showdown at the Billabong Pipe Masters.
With gorgeous water shots, inspirational surfing, and a personal message from Jordy Smith, for seven minutes you are immersed into the mind of a Championship Tour athlete.
"When surfing becomes seamless, that is when it becomes perfect. How can you fit in perfectly with that wave?" Smith questioned in the film.
Along the tour stops in Indonesia, South Africa and Hawaii, Smith scored some epic free surf sessions, including a week trip to the Mentawais in between events. The Mentawais payed off well with an endless run of pumping surf.
"That turn at the end of the film, gave us all goosebumps. That afternoon was chaos, and he was on fire. It was wild" shared filmmaker and photographer Morgan Maassen. "This film was an absolute honor to make. Pairing that with some amazing waves in South Africa and Indonesia, the whole project became a dream come true."
