How Does World Champ Carissa Moore Prepare For Pipeline? She Teams Up With Pipe Specialist JOB
Cayla Moore
Getting ready Pipe's historic debut on the women's Championship Tour, Carissa Moore has enlisted the help of 2004 Pipe Master and all-around Pipe specialist Jamie O'Brien for some insider knowledge.
With the Maui Pro's move to Oahu for the conclusion of the event, the time Carissa has been putting in at the iconic reef is paying off. Last month she spent a day training with JOB at Pipe, confessing, "I'm going to need to put in the time."
And she's done just that. This past week Carissa flew home after the move of the women's event from Maui to Pipeline and has surfed each morning with JOB, preparing for a possible run.
"Paddled out with Jamie O'Brien this morning at Pipe," shared Carissa on Instagram. "Being completely honest, this is a little out of my comfort zone but wow what an incredible opportunity to learn, push myself a little and surf one of the best waves in the world with only a few other women out. Looking forward to finishing the Maui Pro presented by ROXY in the next few days at Pipeline."
Finals day is slated for Sunday, where, for the first time in WSL history, the women will finish a Championship Tour event at Pipeline. Tune in and watch the competition live here on WorldSurfLeague.com.
