San Diego bands "Caravan to Cabo" for Los Cabos Open of Surf
WSL
San Diego bands and a film crew are packing their gear and heading south of the border for the "Caravan to Cabo," a project bringing the sounds of Southern California to the main stage of Los Cabos Open of Surf.
"Caravan to Cabo" will be a documentary following six So Cal bands as they adventure down the Baja peninsula to play the music festival scheduled for the last two days of the surfing competition, June 21st and 22nd. Bands joining the Caravan this year, to share the stage with the incredible Los Amigos Invisibles, are: Scott Russo (Unwritten Law), Todo Mundo, Sister Juanita, Ease Up, Tunnel Vision, Hazmatt, and DJ Man Cat. The adventure, surf contest and music festival will be captured by Director Eric Sorensen, a former professional surfer now Marketing Manager for Blvd Clothing Company.
The bands leave June 16, the same day competition begins in Cabo. During the trip, we will be sharing the adventures of the Caravan on the live webcast so the entire world can follow our bands during this historic drive down highway 1. Social media savvy folks can also tune into the adventure as it happens by following #caravan2cabo.
The "Caravan to Cabo" concept is the brain child of San Diego local musician Jonathan Savage: "We are trying to do more than just spread the music of California, 'Caravan to Cabo' is to remind people of the paradise that sits just south of our border, the amazing culture and scenery that people often spend thousands of dollars and fly thousands of miles to discover when they could just jump in their car and head south."
The documentary "Caravan to Cabo" will be released in early 2015 and will spread the message for the public to join the caravan for next year's competition. Southern California fans of surf, music, and adventure can join the caravan next year by following the detailed itinerary which will be posted online or by starting with everyone as they leave San Diego. We are looking forward to seeing how this rolling party grows over the years!
