Filipe Toledo's hot streak is one worth keeping an eye on. Though the Brazilian only climbed two spots with his most recent win at the Hurley Pro, he's poised for another huge leap up the ladder with one more solid result. And he's come a very long way since his massive win at the Corona Open J-Bay.
Take an in-depth look at one of the most spectacular performances of 2017.
The seminal moment of his J-Bay run was during his Round Four win over fellow Title contenders Jordy Smith and Julian Wilson. Toledo's 19.00 point heat total came on the heels of a perfect 10 that featured back-to-back alley oops. That ride alone is sure to make highlight compilation reels for the next two decades.
After losing early in marginal conditions at Teahupo'o, Toledo shook off his frustration and got right back to work at Trestles, his new backyard. Along his way to victory there he topped John John Florence, Jordy Smith and Julian Wilson, all three of whom are sitting in the current Top 3.

As the Championship Tour heads to Europe, Toledo certainly has the fire power to keep his run going. Last year in France he pulled one of the biggest backside airs ever seen. And two years ago in Portugal he and Italo Ferreira turned the Final of the MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal into an aerial dogfight for the ages.
Toledo is the only surfer this season to rack up two wins, and the fact that he's earned both of late means his confidence is soaring at the moment. "I feel really good right now," he said just days before his Trestles win. "I want to win a World Title, but I'm not in any real hurry to get there. If I keep doing what I'm doing I think the rest will come."
