2018 has been a big year in French sport. Les Bleus won the World Cup, two national jerseys were awarded in the Tour - Young Rider classification, King of the Mountains - and Johanne Defay topped the podium during the fifth stop of the WSL Championship Tour in Uluwatu.
As the Quik Pro France approaches, undoubtedly a pivotal moment in this season's title race, there's another storied competition occurring just outside the City of Lights, the 2018 Ryder Cup.

The Cup is a biennial men's golf competition that pits the top European players against the best of the U.S. in a match play format that alternates each day.
The connection between green fairways and blue oceans has been well established over the years, as evidenced by the enthusiasm of League players like Kelly Slater, Griffin Colapinto and Julian Wilson.
And the passion cuts both ways, just take a look at Australian golfer Adam Scott's water time at the Surf Ranch earlier this year.
"I've been surfing for the better part of the last 20 years, traipsing around the globe, looking for where there aren't too many people to snake me out of a wave," said Scott from the Surf Ranch.
This week's tournament featured a Celebrity Match where surfing's GOAT, Kelly Slater, had the opportunity to tee off next to swimming's GOAT, Michael Phelps.
Kelly then went on to play with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as his partner.
Let's take a moment to let game recognize game, and shout out our favorite nations as the tournament heads into the weekend. Fore!
