What do you get when you bring together Brooklyn's coolest record label and Brooklyn's coolest surf brand?
You get the film 'Self Discovery For Social Survival'. A collaboration between Mexican Summer records and Pilgrim Surf + Supply, and sporting a title that seems rather prescient in these current times, this thing is sure to put you at ease while you're quarantined at home.
Although the film was released last summer, the film's creators have dropped the pay wall and are hosting the film for free through April 5th.
Shot in Mexico, the Maldives and Iceland, the film features seven-time World Champ Stephanie Gilmore along with Ryan Burch, C.J. Nelson, Karina Rozunko, Kassia Meador, WSL Longboard Tour Director Devon Howard and other premium surf stylists. It also boasts a smooth groove soundtrack composed by bands including the Allah-Las and MGMT.
And if the film didn't have enough street cred, it is also narrated by Jonas Mekas, one of the god fathers of independent film and founder of the New York City's Anthology Film Archive.
