Big wave surfer Kai Lenny just got the opportunity to compete alongside professional F1 drivers in a virtual Monaco Grand Prix. Representing Red Bull with teammate, Alex Albon from Thailand, this is Lenny's first time sim racing. The surfer from Maui is also sponsored by Swiss watch brand, TAG Heuer, which has a deep hertiage in motorsports.
Kai Lenny has always been a huge fan of F1, and it even inspired his board quiver. All of his boards including shortboards, foils, tow in boards, and guns follow the same red and blue racing style design. And after getting called up to participate in this unique competitive format, Lenny just had to be a part of it.
"I am so excited to be a part of the Virtual Monaco GP and I am really looking forward to racing with some of my favourite drivers. Being a Big Wave Surfer I am used to a bit of fear, although this feels more nerve racking than riding a big wave! The challenge will be awesome and the best experience I'll remember forever," Lenny told Red Bull Racing ahead of the race.
