The events culminated in a cocktail party at the James Hotel, where Kelly Slater, Stephanie Gilmore, Gabriel Medina, and more rubbed tanned elbows with stars including Katie Holmes and Jessica Chastain. While the party was a private affair, fans can take a peek at the action with pics posted in Vogue.
The rooftop soiree saw media luminaries like NBC News's Matt Lauer and Vogue editor Anna Wintour soaking up surf flicks alongside Julian Wilson and Courtney Conlogue.
So what do stars like Katie Holmes think of a day in the lineup? "I love surfing," she said. "Although I can't do it."
The evening capped off a busy few days in the Big Apple.
Press stops included The Today Show, where Slater, Coco Ho, Medina and more talked passion, dawn patrol, and Ho's recent shoot for the ESPN Body Issue.
When asked what advice he might have for the younger surfers on tour, Slater said, "I try to keep my cards close my chest," adding, "I just love surfing. That's the thing for all of us. It's a huge passion for us. It's not a job."
Slater kept busy in front of the camera. During the NYC sweep, he also made made an appearance on CNBC with ASP CEO Paul Speaker. The two discussed the Tour and their thoughts on GoPro.
But perhaps the surfers' most authentic experience occurred before they even set foot on Manhattan, when their trip was heralded by PageSix. The city's gossip rag of choice alerted locals to the arrival of a special type of celeb: The kind that walks on water.
