Victoria's Premier welcomes the world's best and its fans to Bells Beach, site of the Rip Curl Pro and Rip Curl Women's Pro. Click here to discover what Victoria has to offer beyond the event.

The Victorian Government is proud to host the 2016 Rip Curl Pro, the longest running professional surfing contest in the world.

Set at the iconic Bells Beach in Torquay, the Rip Curl Pro has become a rite of passage for the world's best surfers to compete for one of surfing's highest honours and to ring the historic bell. Held from 24 March to 5 April, this year's event is the second stop in the World Surf League Championship Tour.

Competitors will seek to join past winners, including Australia's own Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Stephanie Gilmore and Sally Fitzgibbons as well as international superstars such as eleven-time World Champion Kelly Slater and three-time World Champion Carissa Moore.

The Rip Curl Pro is an integral part of Victoria's world-class major events calendar. Major events in regional Victoria are essential in helping drive regional economies and promote their attractions. Other annual regional events include the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race and the Festival of Sails in the Geelong region, and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

I encourage everyone to stay some extra nights to allow time to venture down the Great Ocean Road and enjoy the surrounds, attractions and hospitality of Victoria's surf coast.

I wish all competitors the best of luck for the 2016 Rip Curl Pro and all visitors an enjoyable stay in Torquay and the region.
