The WSL South America Regional Office is pleased to announce its Official 2019 Event Schedule to bolster competitive surfing in one of the World Surf League's most talented regions. There are 10 Men's QS and 10 Women's QS events that are already confirmed, half of those being Combined Men's and Women's Qualifying Series Events. In the Pro Junior division, there will be nine combined events for the 18-and-under category as well as three combined Longboard events. These events will run in Brazil, Chile, Peru and Argentina and will determine the 2019 WSL South America Champions respectively.

The season will begin with two recently developed contests. The opening event marks the return of the Hang Loose Pro Contest - a Men's QS 6,000 event which will be held on the remote paradisiacal archipelago of Fernando de Noronha from February 19 - 24 at Cacimba do Padre. The other contest debuts the Men's QS 3,000 Tubos Peru Open to be held at the perfect lefthander at Señoritas, in Punta Hermosa, Peru from March 27 - 31.
Dominic Barona - Rip Curl Pro Argentina - WSL / @surfinglatino - Beto Oviedo
The first Women's event will be the Rip Curl Pro Argentina from April 16 - 21 in Mar del Plata and will see Dominic Barona (ECU) enter the water to defend her 2018 WSL South America Title. The event in Argentina last year was foretelling with Barona and Wesley Santos (BRA) winning the event - both later clinched the continental title.
In addition to the solid number of QS Events, WSL South America has more than doubled the amount of Pro Junior events from 2018 and will run nine events in 2019. After not holding any Longboard contests last year, there will be three Men's/Women's Combined events this year in Brazil.
