『御前崎プロ2023』2日目は男子ラウンド32からスタートし、女子ラウンド20まで行われた。 本日のコンディションは強い日差しに残暑厳しい中、波のほうは南東の弱い風で朝イチは胸前後のグラッシーコンディション。QS1000男女のRound 1がスタート。
本日の注目は地元をホームとする三輪紘也選手。スタンス広く特徴あるスタイルではあるが、フルローテーションを武器にマニューバーとのコンビネーションでポイントを伸ばす。今回のヒートもコンビネーションにて勝ち上がった。慎重に波を選びヒート終了間際残り40秒でラストセットを掴み、ハイラインからスピードをつけ、ボトムから一気にトップターンし、波が張ったところへ得意のフルローテーションで6.50ptを叩き出しトップで通過。この週末波が上がってくるという予想なので、明日以降の彼のライディングにも目が離させません。
勝利者インタビューでは、『今日はサイズと波数が少なくなっていたのですが、やはり地元なので、待っていたところに波が入って来るのはわかっていたので待ってて良かったです。最近ではサーフトレーニングだけではなくメンタルトレーニングも取り入れていて、ヒート中のメンタルコントロールもできてきているので、この後DAY3・DAY4と優勝できるよう頑張りますので、応援よろしくお願いします!』と語りインタビューブースを沸かせた。
本日のベストスコアは本日のスタートヒート、ラウンド32ヒート1にクレジットされていた大原洋人。日頃からバックサイドを意識して練習している中、ウネリが見えた時からエクセレントライディングができると確信したという大原選手はノートリムで1ターン・2ターンと大きなアクションを入れつつ、スピードをつけエンドセクションでビックターンを披露。そのライディンが9.00ptとなり今大会これまでのハイエストポイントとなった。
明日8月26日(土)は、女子QS1000ラウンド16を予定! ファーストコールは、6時30分、ヒートスタートは7時スタート予定。
