Day 2 of the La Union International Pro has seen another massive day of action, with the completion of the Women's Round of 32 in the Qualifying Series (QS) 3,000 event, along with the opening rounds of the Longboard Qualifying Series (LQS) event. Competitors were treated to super clean two foot surf on the Point at Urbiztondo Beach at La Union.
Japan's Natsumi Taoka (JPN) was a clear standout in the opening round of the longboards, posting an excellent 16.00 point (out of a possible 20) two wave total. Taoka matched style and flow, with poise on the nose as she progressed into the Quarterfinals at La Union.
"That was really fun out there," Taoka said. "It is perfect conditions for longboarding, so I was really excited for my heat. Posting an excellent heat total is awesome for my confidence and I think I can keep that performance going into the Quarterfinals. I'm really enjoying my time here in the Philippines and am looking forward to my next heat."
Pan Mei-Hsin (TPE) from Taiwan, as well as Korean competitor Soojin Park (KN) and Filipino competitors Aping Agudo (PHL) and Vea Estrellado (PHL), also progressed into the Quarterfinals on Day 2 of competition.
